OUTSTANDING EVENING OF ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE WHOLE COMMUNITY
This was the second time my family and I attended a "The Voice of Joy and Gladness" carols event in the park and once again, we felt very blessed for having been a part of the evening.
It featured breath-taking orchestral pieces and exquisite choral performances but the centre piece of the whole evening was the faithful retelling of the birth of of Jesus the Messiah. The narration was dignified and contemplative. The actors who recreated the story ranged from all ages and brought the story to life with energy and sincerity.
We were once again charmed by little inclusions that made the night memorable and catered for all ages. Our children, under 5, were entertained by thoughtful activities set out for them, like the play dough stations and a scavenger hunt. They were even given a little kids' bag with a book to colour in. They danced in the bubbles blowing from the bubble machine and had a wonderful time. The adults and elderly on the other hand, sat back and let the story wash over them, singing along to the songs from their songbooks, or just taking it all in, candles in hands.
The soft light of candles setting happy faces aglow is a memory I have and will always associate with this carols' event, by far the most meaningful and thoughtful local carols event you could hope to attend.
Regardless which church you attend, you won't be disappointed. If you're not a church person but you want a more meaningful Christmas event to attend - one not centred on commercialism and gimmicks - you won't be disappointed by the timeless truth and beauty of the true Christmas story. As it is written, "The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow to it."
Thankyou, The Voice of Joy and Gladness, we will be back in 2025!!!
